What is a Feller Buncher?

A feller buncher grabs hold of tree trunks and cuts them off near the ground, then lowers them to the ground in a controlled fashion. It can hold multiple harvested trees, then lay them in neat stacks for further processing. A feller buncher can be used for both clear-cuts and thinning. It doesn’t perform any further processing such as delimbing or cutting into segments. 
 

Types of Feller Bunchers

These self-propelled machines have tracks or wheels. A feller buncher with tracks moves slower, but it’s more stable on steep slopes and performs better on wet or loose soils.
